Following is a field report I received from a F1Y in Asia.
Just wanted drop you a quick note. As an experienced hire that didn't even get interview invites coming out of undergrad and periodic cold web submissions a couple years ago, I now made it to final rounds with Bain and BCG [South East Asia locations]. I'm 95% sure I will accept BCG's Consultant offer.
Thank you for your materials, particularly LOMS. I've ingrained "in answer to the question..." so much that it is rote now.
For your reference. I've done over 120 practice cases. But LOMS was still good to calibrate when I would find new partners off the internet, who had yet been indoctrinated into a simple yet effective method of case cracking.
However I would stress that out here, the importance of clear communication and confidence throughout the entire interview seems to be more important. Because in several cases, even my decision round with BCG, the case went quite poorly. Yet my fit portion and q&a afterwards. Maybe that is unique to Asia or BCG and Bain. I did not interview with McKinsey.
Regardless, thank you very much. Your materials have positively impacted the future trajectory of my career.
Congratulations on the offer! And thank you for sharing your experience and "data points."
